Scotch Oakburn College is an independent, open entry day and boarding school of approximately 1,300 students from Early Learning through to Year 12, in association with the Uniting Church in Australia. Scotch Oakburn College is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as the Director of Educational Operations. This leadership position is based on the Penquite Campus with whole of College responsibilities. The newly created position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with experience in leading staff growth and professional learning, and oversight of key academic and operational structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic educational leadership with operational coordination to ensure coherence, sustainability and effectiveness across College programs, initiatives and systems. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities who can effectively collaborate across various departments to ensure the smooth functioning of educational operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing operational strategies to support the educational objectives of Scotch Oakburn College.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in educational operations.
- In collaboration with other leaders align professional learning, staffing structures,
calendar management and approval processes with the College's Strategic Vision and teaching and learning priorities.
- Leading the design and implementation of the College's performance and development framework, including PL planning, staff induction, mentoring, appraisal processes and regulatory compliance.
- Providing strategic oversight of academic staffing and teaching allocations.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a deep understanding of educational management. A proven track record in leadership roles within an educational setting is essential, along with a passion for driving continuous improvement in educational operations. Desired Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in leading staff development programs, organising professional learning activities, mentoring and performance appraisals.
- Strong leadership skills, experience in collaborating with stakeholders and guiding the integration of new performance frameworks.
- Proficiency in managing school timetables, allocating resources and overseeing daily operations like staffing and scheduling.
- Understanding teacher accreditation and regulatory requirements and managing compliance for staff and trainee teachers.
- Classroom experience with curriculum design, differentiated instruction and student assessment, along with pastoral care and behaviour management.
- Engagement with external educational networks, professional bodies or system level initiates to inform College practice.
