Serve with purpose. Grow through community.
Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) helps companion animals find safe, loving and permanent homes. Volunteers are central to that work. As Volunteer Coordinator, you manage the volunteer program that supports animal care, enrichment activities, adoption programs and community engagement. You recruit volunteers, coordinate applications, run inductions, organise rosters and provide ongoing training and support.
You work closely with operational and leadership teams to make sure volunteers are engaged, informed and ready to contribute. You facilitate volunteer meetings, coordinate recognition activities, monitor volunteer performance and develop training programs that support the needs of the team. You also provide administrative support, prepare reports and correspondence, respond to customer enquiries and help promote responsible pet ownership within the community.
Your work creates practical benefits every day. Students gain valuable work placement experience at Australia's largest impounding facility. Volunteers contribute their time to support animals in care. Animals receive enrichment and support while waiting for a new home. By coordinating these programs, you create positive outcomes for the community, animals and Council.
This role suits someone who is passionate about animal welfare and enjoys working with people. You have strong communication, administration and computer skills,
build positive relationships and keep a busy program organised while working independently as part of a larger team.
You join a supportive workplace where your contribution is recognised. Every day brings opportunities to build new skills, support volunteers and make a meaningful difference for animals and the community.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and excellent teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,468.72 per week
- a 38-hour working week
- a Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
