Where you'll be working
Join a supportive and collaborative team at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician who is passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people, and their families.
CAMHS is a specialist service providing assessment, treatment, and care coordination for children and young people aged 0–17 years experiencing moderate to severe mental health concerns across Hunter New England Local Health District. We work closely with young people, families, carers, schools, and community partners to deliver evidence-based, developmentally appropriate care that supports recovery and positive outcomes. Our New England North West CAMHS clinicians provide support to young people living across the region. You'll have clients located at your base site, and at neighbouring sites. This position has been based in Armidale, though we also welcome applications from prospective employees based in Glen Innes or Inverell, and who have capacity to travel and deliver telehealth services.

The Opportunity
As a Mental Health Clinician with CAMHS, you will provide discipline specific mental health assessments, treatment, and care coordination services for children, adolescents, and their families or carers. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you'll collaborate with Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists/Clinical Psychologists in Training, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Nurses, and a Dietitian to deliver high-quality, family-centred care.
Our service offers specialist child, adolescent, and family-based mental health interventions, including individual, dyadic, and family therapy. You'll contribute your professional expertise while working collaboratively with colleagues across the broader CAMHS network, with access to regular supervision, ongoing professional development, and opportunities to expand your clinical skills.

Key responsibilities include:

- Delivering discipline specific specialist mental health assessments, evidence-based interventions, and case management for children, young people, and their families or carers.
- Providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care.




- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external service providers to support coordinated care.
- Applying sound clinical judgement to assessment, formulation, risk management, and treatment planning.
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional, legal, ethical, and organisational standards.
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of CAMHS services.
- Managing a clinical caseload with an appropriate level of autonomy while accessing support and supervision as required.

You are a compassionate and skilled clinician who is committed to delivering high-quality care to children, adolescents, and families experiencing mental health challenges. You enjoy working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment and are motivated to continually develop your clinical knowledge and practice.
You'll be supported by the CAMHS New England North West Team Leader, alongside an experienced team of Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Dietitians, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists. Requirements

- Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology/Clinical Psychologist in Training, Nursing, Social Work, or Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program), which provides eligibility or membership with the relevant professional association (e.g. Australian Association Social Work, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA))
- Applicants must have at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification OR possess such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the service (e.g. psychology students having completed or enrolled in a Master of Clinical Psychology).
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment
