About the role
The purpose of this position is the provision of oversight and management of all TasPorts port operational functions within the assigned region. This includes operational strategy, P&L; accountability for all landside operations, infrastructure maintenance, leadership and coordination of all team members and physical work execution and extensive internal and external stakeholder management.
This role can be based in either Devonport or Burnie.
About you
We are seeking an experienced leader to drive an integrated operations culture across the region, bringing together diverse teams and work practices under a shared commitment to safety, collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability. The successful candidate will establish and lead a disciplined operational delivery approach that strengthens safety leadership, enhances planning and performance visibility, clarifies responsibilities, and ensures the secure and effective delivery of business objectives.
The key experiences we are looking for includes:
- Highly developed safety leadership, people management and operational delivery skills, preferably in an industrial, resources or ports environment
- Demonstrated ability in planning and programming of asset maintenance work management and response activities.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience in financial management and control of projects and contracts
- Highly developed analytical, problem solving, self-management and time management skills
- Highly developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to manage a diverse range of staff, contractors, clients and stakeholders
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft computer packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and be conversant in engineering related computer design programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship management skills
What you will have
Essential
- Current drivers licence
- Demonstrated experience leading diverse operational teams with accountability for P&L; and safety performance outcomes
Desirable
- Trade or Tertiary qualifications (in relevant discipline)
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior leadership role or equivalent related experience in an asset management or operational role.
