This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident in the kitchen, organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a busy café kitchen. You'll work closely with management and be an important part of delivering great food and experiences for locals, visitors, tour groups and events.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking café meals
- Food preparation and kitchen setup
- Maintaining food quality and presentation
- Staff rostering
- Ordering and maintaining food stock
- Monitoring stock levels and reducing wastage
- Ensuring appropriate food storage and rotation
- Reviewing menus and discussing recent ideas with management
- Assisting with menus for events and special functions
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
About you
- Previous kitchen and cooking experience – essential
- Confidence working independently in a commercial kitchen
- Experience with food preparation and service
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- Experience or confidence with stock ordering and stock control
- Ability to organise staff and kitchen rosters
- Strong understanding of kitchen cleanliness and food safety
- Ability to work calmly during busy service periods
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a broader team
- Availability to work weekends, including weekend evenings
