Working in a hospital requires more than traditional security skills. It calls for professionalism, patience, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Patients, families and visitors may be distressed, vulnerable or experiencing a difficult time, and your approach can make a real difference. • Emergency response: Respond to Code Black, duress activations, aggressive behaviour and other security incidents. Apply de-escalation techniques and support clinical staff during lawful restrictive interventions when directed.
• Security monitoring: Monitor CCTV, alarms and duress systems; conduct routine patrols and identify and report security risks, hazards, unauthorised access and suspicious activity.
• Patient movement: Accompany and maintain observation of patients when directed by clinical staff, including movement to treatment areas, imaging and other hospital locations.
• Confidentiality and compliance: Maintain strict patient and hospital confidentiality, professional boundaries and privacy at all times, and comply with hospital policies, procedures and contractor requirements.
