Property Council of Australia

Melbourne

This is a rare opportunity to take on one of the most influential property industry leadership roles in Victoria.

The Property Council of Australia is the champion of Australia’s largest industry - an industry that employs 1.4 million Australians and helps shape the future of our cities, communities and economy. Our members span the full breadth of the property sector, from investors, owners, managers and developers through to the professional services firms that support them.

As our VIC Executive Director, you will lead the Property Council’s Victorian Division and be the senior voice of the property industry across the state. This is a highly visible executive leadership role, requiring a confident and credible leader who can influence at the highest levels, represent our members with presence and authority, and position the Property Council as the trusted voice of the industry in Victoria.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will work closely with the Group Executive Committee, national teams, the Victorian President and Division Council, our members, government, industry stakeholders and the media to advance the priorities of the Victorian property sector.

About the role

In this role, you will lead the strategic direction, advocacy agenda, commercial performance and team leadership of the Victorian Division. You will be at the forefront of public debate on the issues shaping property in Victoria, from planning, housing, investment and infrastructure through to economic growth, liveability and the future of our cities.

You will be responsible for building trusted relationships with senior government decision-makers, Ministers, Shadow Ministers, advisers, public servants, councils, members, sponsors, partners and the media. You will lead advocacy campaigns, shape policy positions, contribute to submissions and thought leadership, and represent the Property Council at senior forums, events and public engagements.

A key part of the role will be ensuring our members see real value in their engagement with the Property Council.

You will work closely with the Victorian team to strengthen member relationships, grow commercial opportunities, support successful events and partnerships, and deliver sustainable revenue and financial outcomes for the Division.

As a member of the Property Council’s executive leadership group, you will also contribute to national strategy and organisational priorities, ensuring Victoria’s priorities are aligned with broader national objectives.

What you’ll lead

You will:

· Be the leading public voice of the property industry in Victoria, representing the Property Council in the media, at industry events and in senior stakeholder forums.

· Lead high-impact advocacy, policy and government relations activity that supports member priorities and influences policy, legislative and regulatory outcomes.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with government, opposition, public sector leaders, councils, industry bodies, members, sponsors and partners.

· Lead the development of Victorian policy positions, campaigns, submissions, research and thought leadership.

· Drive the commercial performance of the Victorian Division, including membership, sponsorship, events, partnerships, revenue growth and budget management.

· Work with the Victorian President and Division Council to ensure effective governance, strong member engagement and clear strategic priorities.

· Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Victorian team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion and strong delivery.

· Champion the Property Council’s values and contribute as a senior leader across the broader national organisation.

About you

We are looking for an exceptional senior leader with strong presence,

sound judgement and the ability to influence across government, industry and the media.

You may bring experience from advocacy, public affairs, government relations, industry associations, membership organisations, business leadership, property, infrastructure, policy or a related sector. Most importantly, you will have the credibility, confidence and strategic capability to represent a major industry body and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

You will bring:

· Significant senior leadership experience, including leading teams and operating at executive level.

· A strong track record in advocacy, public affairs, government relations, policy influence or stakeholder engagement.

· Confidence representing an organisation publicly, including through media, speaking engagements and senior forums.

· Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience driving revenue, managing budgets and identifying growth opportunities.

· Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

· A solid understanding of the Victorian political, policy and economic environment.

· Knowledge of the property industry, planning, housing, investment, infrastructure or related policy areas will be highly regarded.

· A collaborative, resilient and politically astute operating style, with the ability to balance member value, advocacy priorities and commercial outcomes.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to shape the conversation on the future of Victoria’s property industry and make a meaningful impact on the cities and communities where people live, work and invest.

You will join a respected national organisation with deep member connections, strong policy influence and a clear purpose: to champion an industry that is central to Australia’s prosperity, productivity and future growth.

For a senior leader who thrives on influence, advocacy, commercial leadership and meaningful member engagement, this role offers exceptional scope, visibility and impact.
