About the role
We are seeking an organised and motivated Assistant Project Officer to support a range of projects focused on community recovery, reconstruction and development across NSW with a state government client.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration, coordination and communication skills who enjoys working in a project environment and managing competing priorities. This is a casual position offering full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with a 35-hour working week (7 hours per day). The contract is initially for 12 months, providing stability and consistency throughout the assignment. The role also offers flexible working arrangements, including the opportunity to work from home a few days per week.

Duties

- Provide project and operational support, including monitoring project plans, milestones and deliverables
- Assist with project research, analysis, reporting and implementation activities
- Prepare, update and maintain project documentation and records
- Contribute to project briefs and other documentation to support informed decision-making
- Assist project teams with the implementation of project plans and agreed outcomes
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding project status and implementation issues
- Coordinate meetings and activities, including preparing meeting papers and providing secretariat support
- Respond to enquiries and escalate complex or sensitive matters when required





Skills and Experience

- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant knowledge and experience
- Previous experience in project support, administration, coordination or a similar environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records
- Ability to undertake basic research and analysis and contribute to project reporting
- Robust problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
