CleanCo is a Queensland Government Owned Corporation established to support Queensland’s energy transition and deliver reliable, lower-emissions energy solutions for Queensland businesses, communities and major energy users. With a portfolio spanning flexible generation assets, renewable energy offtake arrangements and a growing customer base across major industry sectors, CleanCo is playing an important role in Queensland’s clean energy future.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Enterprise Services, this senior leadership role will lead the People and Culture function and partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team to align people priorities with CleanCo’s business strategy, values and operating environment.
This is a practical, delivery-focused leadership opportunity with oversight of strategic execution of an approved People and Culture Strategy. With a highly capable but relatively new leadership group within the function, we are seeking a deeply experienced, steady, credible leader who can bring focus, confidence and momentum to execution.
The General Manager, People & Culture will lead a team of approximately 20, with direct reports across HR business partnering, workplace relations, remuneration and benefits, and employee experience. The role will provide strategic and operational leadership across organisational capability, culture, employee experience, leadership effectiveness, talent, performance, DEIB, employee and industrial relations, systems, policy, and governance.
Key priorities will include:
- leading the execution of CleanCo’s People and Culture Strategy;
- strengthening engagement, confidence and cohesion within the People and Culture team;
- partnering with senior leaders to build organisational capability and workforce capacity;
- supporting a positive, inclusive and values-led employee experience;
- providing trusted employee and industrial relations leadership in a complex, regulated environment;
- ensuring people systems, policies and frameworks are fit for purpose, compliant and enable effective decision making; and
- bringing calm, practical and commercially grounded leadership to a portfolio with multiple active priorities.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced senior People and Culture leader who has led teams and delivered outcomes in a complex organisation.
Experience in a Government Owned Corporation is not essential, however exposure to government, infrastructure, energy, utilities, service delivery or other environments with both white-collar and blue-collar workforces will be highly regarded.
You will bring sound judgement, strong stakeholder engagement, practical execution discipline, and the ability to balance strategic advice with operational delivery. You will be comfortable working in an environment where governance,
approvals, public accountability, and stakeholder expectations matter, and where progress requires influence, patience and clarity.
This role will suit a practical, constructive and grounded leader who can engage and develop a team, partner credibly with executives, and translate strategy into action, building and sustaining trust, prioritising astutely and executing to help the organisation continue to mature.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, Business or a related discipline are preferred. Senior-level experience in employee relations and industrial relations within a comparable environment will be key.
Why This Role Is Great
This is an opportunity to join a purpose-led organisation with strong executive leadership, a highly relevant clean energy mandate, and meaningful scope to shape the people foundations that will support CleanCo’s next stage of maturity.
