Tec-NQ is an Independent Senior Secondary School and Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Tec-NQ delivers education and training to the Townsville and North Queensland region, including full time apprentice training, on demand industry training, pre-employment programs and school-based apprentice programs. Vocational training is provided across broad industry areas including Hospitality, Health, Construction, Electro-technology, Engineering and Automotive.

Tec-NQ delivers innovative curriculum and training programs that are supported by strong links with industry. As a company, Tec-NQ values safety in the workplace, maintaining high standards of compliance as both an Independent Senior Secondary School and RTO.

Tec-NQ is a growing organisation and we are recruiting for a Hospitality Trainer on a permanent, full time basis located in Townsville, QLD.

ABOUT THE ROLE





Tec-NQ is seeking a passionate Hospitality Trainer for delivery of the Certificate II in Hospitality to our year 10 students as part of their educational program. The role is focused on providing quality trade training through the facilitation of vocational and education training to our school-based students.

A day in the life of a Hospitality Trainer at Tec-NQ would look like:

- Teaching school-based students the hospitality Trade as per the Delivery Schedule.

- Writing and validating training units.

- Facilitating the retention of training and employment partnerships with local employers through quality training of students.

- Taking a mentorship role in promoting the education of school-based students in a proper manner including the delivery of engaging and relevant learning programs.

- Participation in team meetings to support student progress.

- Providing input into continuous improvement initiatives.

- Undertaking industry visits.

- Attending Industry Forums.

- Marking of assessments and then submission of the paperwork into the Records Room.

- Ensuring Work Health and Safety systems are maintained and adhered to.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The ideal applicant will have a passion for providing trade training in our community. This candidate will also meet the following selection criteria:





Applicants without a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are not discouraged from applying.

1. Possession of a trade qualification in Hospitality with a minimum of five years post trade work experience in the Hospitality Industry.

2. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116 or TAE40110).

3. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

4. Ability to use information technology in various formats and combinations to enrich and extend the learning opportunities of the students.

5. Current C-Class Australian Drivers Licence.

6. Queensland ‘Blue Card’ to work with children or eligibility to attain.

Desirable

1. Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and assessment of Certificate II in Hospitality with the ability to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching and learning.
