HOTA, Home of the Arts Precinct
This role will be based at HOTA, Home of the Arts. HOTA is an iconic Gold Coast destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. A place that locals love and visitors must-see. HOTA offers a diverse suite of venues and facilities, including a gallery, outdoor stage, indoor theatres and cinemas, function and events rooms, as well as a range of food and beverage venues including the HOTA Café, the rooftop Exhibitionist Bar and three hat Palette Restaurant.
At the heart of HOTA’s identity is a rich and diverse program: live music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, visual art exhibitions, children’s shows, community workshops, and festivals - all taking place across the array of venues.
About the Role
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, compliance, and operational reliability of HOTA precinct assets, facilities, and infrastructure. The role delivers hands-on maintenance services while coordinating contractors, managing asset and maintenance systems, and supporting compliance, WHS corrective actions, and long-term asset planning. The position ensures precinct buildings, plant, equipment, and systems are safe, functional, and fit for purpose, supporting a high-quality experience for staff, visitors, and stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Operations & Service Delivery
- Perform routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance across precinct buildings, plant, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Carry out inspections, identify defects, complete minor repairs, and respond to maintenance issues.
- Ensure facilities and assets remain safe, compliant, and operational.
- Support precinct opening and closing procedures, including building readiness checks.
- Complete maintenance tasks arising from inspections, incidents, and workplace safety requirements.
- Prioritise and complete maintenance work in line with operational needs.
- Comply with organisational policies, procedures, and WHS requirements.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Director, Operations & Facilities.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Coordinate contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with site requirements.
- Liaise with internal teams to schedule and deliver maintenance works.
- Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, contractors, regulatory authorities, and precinct partners, including the City of Gold Coast.
Administration & Asset Management
- Prepare purchase orders and maintain contractor documentation.
- Keep accurate maintenance records, asset registers, servicing logs, and compliance documentation.
- Provide administrative support to the Assets & Facilities function.
- Support asset-related onboarding/offboarding and provide first-line support for operational equipment.
Systems & Reporting
- Maintain asset management and maintenance systems, including work orders and asset records.
- Conduct audits of equipment, vehicles, and operational assets.
- Prepare reports on maintenance activities, asset condition, compliance, and contractor performance.
- Assist with testing and reporting of building and safety systems.
Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Support preventative maintenance programs and asset lifecycle planning.
- Recommend asset renewals, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
- Contribute to the development of maintenance policies, procedures, and processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, service delivery,
and asset reliability.
What We're Looking For
- Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in maintenance or facilities management.
- Demonstrated experience in building, plant, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience coordinating contractors and service providers.
- Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and asset registers.
- Strong organisational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Experience using maintenance or asset management systems (desirable).
- Ability to work across a 7-day operation as required.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- First Aid Certificate (desirable).
- Blue Card (desirable).
