About The Role
An exciting prospect is available for a pharmacist to join Barwon Health’s Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) and Smart Pumps team. This role will support a strong culture of medication safety and quality use of medicines across Barwon Health, while playing a key role in implementing the Barwon Health Smart Pumps Drug Libraries for Colac Area Health. Working across pharmacy, clinical and quality teams, you will contribute to medication safety initiatives, auditing, education, governance and continuous improvement. You’ll also work closely with Colac Area Health stakeholders to support the implementation of Smart Pumps, including education, governance processes, clinical resources and ongoing quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of Barwon Health Smart Pumps Drug Libraries at Colac Area Health, working with key stakeholders to support a safe and effective transition
- Monitor medication safety, QUM and Smart Pump compliance through audits, reporting, incident review and quality improvement activities
- Support the development and review of medication safety policies, procedures, guidelines and clinical resources to strengthen safe medication use
- Provide education and practical support to healthcare staff on medication safety, quality use of medicines and Smart Pump use.
What We're Looking For
- AHPRA-registered pharmacist with hospital pharmacy experience and clinical or project experience
- Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy and a demonstrated interest in medication safety, quality use of medicines and quality improvement
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate projects and work collaboratively across teams
- Experience in education and training, with knowledge of drug dose preparation and administration; familiarity with Smart Pump implementation, IV medication safety or QUM frameworks will be highly regarded
