Overview

To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Category Manager to join our Softlines team. The Softlines business group is one of Amazon's five core retail businesses, along with Hardlines, Consumables, Electronics and Entertainment. Softlines encompasses a vast and growing range of businesses in the fashion industry (including Apparel, Shoes, Jewellery, Watches and Luggage), building on all the things consumers love about Amazon to deliver a unique and compelling range of products.
Responsibilities and Scope
This role is multi‑faceted in nature, working cross‑functionally with various teams including marketing, finance, supply chain, Amazon Ads, and our external supplier partners. As a Category Manager, you will be a passionate advocate for our customers and develop a category based on strong relationships with our supplier partners. You will build long‑term, strategic relationships with existing suppliers and engage with new brands to help drive incremental growth opportunities on Amazon.com.au. You will be an effective negotiator, act as a subject‑matter expert in a particular field, and coach and develop members of the team and peers across the business.
An Amazon Category Manager also complements their investments in relationships and people with a sharp, analytical mind: being comfortable with a suite of metrics across multiple KPIs is a must; likewise is an affinity with complex analysis and making data‑driven decisions.
Adding structure to processes, creating rigorous mechanisms and understanding operational flows will be part and parcel of your role.

This position requires full‑time in‑office presence 5 days per week at our CBD location.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience.
- 5+ years of Excel experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Excel and extracting data through varied reporting tools to drive and influence business decisions.
- Experience managing large data sets and utilizing them to drive performance and process improvements.
- Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development.
- Experience with financial analysis and P&L; ownership.
