Shapland Swim Schools has been a trusted provider of swimming lessons and water safety education in Brisbane's Northside for over 60 years. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality instruction in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. With a maximum of 3 students per class and only 2 teachers in the pool at a time, we offer a calm, focused setting where children truly thrive.

Our purpose-built, magnesium pools are heated to 32 degrees and undercover — open all year round across our five locations at Taigum, Warner, Kallangur, Everton Park, and Morayfield.

The opportunity

We're looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Swim Instructors — both qualified and trainee — to join our casual team across our pool locations. The more locations you can cover, the better!

In this role, you'll deliver high-quality swimming lessons to children of varying ages and abilities, helping them build water confidence, develop their skills, and most importantly — stay safe in the water. Consistency matters to us, and we're looking for teachers who are genuinely committed to their students and will show up ready to make a difference every shift.

What you'll be doing

- Delivering engaging, safe and age-appropriate swimming lessons to participants of varying skill levels and ages
- Planning and preparing structured lesson content that aligns with curriculum requirements and individual swimmer development plans
- Assessing participant progress and providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement
- Maintaining accurate records of lesson attendance, skill development and participant achievements
- Ensuring compliance with all water safety protocols,



duty of care obligations and lifesaving procedures at all times
- Communicating effectively with parents, guardians and other staff members regarding participant progress and any concerns
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive and welcoming swim school culture for all participants
- Assisting with the setup and maintenance of teaching areas and equipment as required
- Participating in ongoing professional development and training to enhance instructional capabilities

What we're looking for

- Current or working towards relevant swimming teaching qualifications (such as Austswim, Swim Australia, AMPD or equivalent recognised certification)
- Must have current or willing to obtain a Working with Children clearance or Blue Card as required by Queensland regulations,
- Current CPR or willingness to obtain this qualification
- Physical fitness and ability to work in an aquatic environment for extended periods
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong commitment to professional conduct
- Experience working with children or in a coaching/instructional role is highly valued
- Passionate about water safety and committed to developing swimmers' confidence and competence
- Access to a car for travel between pool locations
- Valid Australian work rights (please note we are unable to offer visa sponsorship)

Availability Requirements

- Saturday availability is essential
- Early morning shifts from 6:30am and afternoon shifts from 2:40pm, finishing up to 7:30pm depending on location requirements
