Downs Trenching & Cabling is seeking a motivated Telecommunications Labourer/Operator to join our team. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in doing a positive job, and is keen to build practical skills in the telecommunications industry.
On-the-job training will be provided, with opportunities to upskill, gain further qualifications and develop experience across telecommunications civil and cable installation work. Work is primarily based in the Toowoomba Region, with occasional travel away from home for periods of up to one week. The position is full time and subject to a probation period.
Key Responsibilities
- General labouring and manual handling
- Hauling optical fibre and copper telecommunications cables
- Installing telecommunications pits, pipes and conduits
- Excavator and vacuum truck operation
- Site set-up and general site preparation
- Maintaining a strong focus on workplace health and safety
What We Are Looking For
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small team
- Previous experience with copper telecommunications cables will be an advantage
- Current Driver License
- Construction White Card
- HR Driver License preferred, or willingness to obtain one
- First Aid Certificate
- Relevant plant operator tickets
- Telecommunications, civil construction or cable installation experience
