Lead payroll excellence and Drive continuous improvement

Salary range Grade 5: $106,845 - $129,273 (this range is subject to increase following current EBA negotiations)

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Service Manager, you will provide operational leadership across payroll delivery, governance, enterprise agreement interpretation, statutory compliance reporting and payroll system administration.

You will play a key role in building scalable payroll processes, strengthening controls, supporting workforce initiatives and identifying opportunities to modernise and streamline payroll operations you will also lead and develop the payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the accurate, compliant and timely delivery of VIT's end to end payroll function.
- Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, enterprise agreement interpretation, taxation and superannuation.
- Strengthen payroll governance, controls, risk management, reconciliations and audit readiness.
- Oversea payroll systems, data integrity, reporting, upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.




- Resolve complex payroll matters and deliver practical, sustainable solutions.
- Lead, coach and develop the payroll team while building a culture of accountability and service excellence.

About you

You are an experienced payroll leader with strong technical expertise sound judgement and a commitment to high quality service delivery. You can confidently manage operational payroll requirements while also taking a strategic approach to governance, risk, systems and continuous improvement.

- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to understand the broader organisational impact of payroll decisions.
- Experience with payroll systems, reporting, data analysis and process improvements.
- Highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive payroll matters and build trust across the organisation.
- Strong Attention to detail, accountability and a solution-focused mindset.
