About the Role
We are seeking reliable, compassionate, Support Workers to provide dedicated in-home care to a young person living with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) in Falls Creek, NSW.
As our client is a relatively independent teenager, your primary focus will be supporting his daily routines and personal care without over-assisting, empowering him to maintain his self-reliance and independence. Full client-specific training will be provided prior to shifts commencing.
Shifts on Offer
- Morning Support: Opportunities for AM shifts from 6:30 AM - 9:30 AM.
- Afternoon Routine: Monday and Friday, 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM.
- Holiday & Roster Growth: Longer hours during school holidays, with potential to move to more weekday and weekend shifts once rapport and routine are established.
What You Will Do
- Personal Care & Support: Assist with bathing, showering, and daily routines in a respectful manner that preserves our client's independence.
- Complex Care Setup: Provide prompting and setup assistance for bowel and catheter care.
- Manual Handling & Hoisting:
Safely execute transfers utilizing hoist equipment and transfer techniques suited for quadriplegic or paraplegic clients.
- Promoting Independence: Assist the young person in managing his own care routine, encouraging self-reliance while providing attentive, non-intrusive support.
- Documentation & Safety: Maintain clear shift notes, monitor health needs, and report updates or incidents promptly.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be:
- Experienced: Background in disability support, spinal injury/TBI care, or youth work. Experience with hoist equipment and quad/para transfers is required (experience working with children/youth is highly beneficial).
- Mature-Minded & Respectful: Demonstrate sound judgment and a patient, empowering approach that honours the client’s independence.
- Reliable & Flexible: Highly punctual with the flexibility to cover current rostered hours, school holiday shifts, and expanded rosters over time.
- Essential Credentials: Current First Aid and CPR certificates, valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check (WWCC), Australian Driver's Licence, and a reliable vehicle for travel to Falls Creek.
