About the role
As a Community Engagement Trainee, this is your opportunity to support the wellbeing and engagement of children and young people by helping deliver impactful community-based programs and building strong local partnerships. Reporting to the Team Leaders, this is a 12-month max term role with part‑time hours offering 19 hours a week, based Lethbridge Park, NSW.
How you will make an impact
- Support the delivery of after-school programs, youth activities, camps and community events for children and young people.
- Build positive relationships with children, young people, families and community stakeholders, providing referrals and support where appropriate.
- Assist in planning and delivering local community engagement initiatives, outreach activities and community conversations.
- Develop connections with schools, services, volunteers and community leaders to strengthen participation and partnerships.
- Maintain accurate program attendance, activity records and administrative documentation in line with privacy requirements.
- Participate in training, supervision and compliance activities, upholding safeguarding, safety and organisational policies.
What you will bring
- Progress toward Certificate III/IV (or higher) in Community Services, Youth Work, Social/Community Development or related field (study can occur during the traineeship).
- Demonstrated administrative, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to support programs, events and community initiatives across the local area.
- Solid communication skills and experience engaging with children, young people, families and community stakeholders.
- Alignment with the Christian faith and mission of the Salvation Army.
- National Police Check (mandatory).
- Working With Children Check (NSW).
- Driver's licence preferred.

Conditions: Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Level 1.
