Protrade Warehouse is seeking a skilled Small Engine Mechanic - Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on technical role based at our Rydalmere NSW facility, where you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines used in a variety of equipment. As a crucial member of our technical team, you will ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards whilst maintaining safety protocols and delivering excellent customer service. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse equipment and develop your expertise within the small engine repair industry.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose faults and mechanical problems in small engines using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic techniques
- Perform routine maintenance services including repair of electrical wiring and switches, filter replacements, diamond disc replacement, small motor replacement and general servicing.
- Carry out repairs to small engines, including engine rebuilds, component replacements, and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble engine components with precision and attention to detail
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repairs and maintenance work completed
- Ensure all work areas and tools are kept clean, organised and in good working condition
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies at all times
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair requirements, timelines, and costs
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop processes and efficiency

What we're looking for

- Formal qualification in small engine repair, mechanical engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in engine mechanics
- Proven experience working on small engines such as floor grinders, lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, outboard motors,



and similar equipment
- Sound knowledge of engine systems, fuel systems, ignition systems, and cooling systems
- Proficiency with mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work methodically through complex mechanical issues
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Ability to work independently whilst being part of a collaborative team environment
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to undertake further training and professional development
- Robust communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Experience in a trade or service environment is highly valued
