Lead from the front at one of Hobart’s iconic hospitality venues. The Telegraph Hotel is a vibrant, high-energy venue in the heart of Hobart, bringing together great food, drinks, entertainment and events under one roof. With a busy kitchen and a team that continues to grow, we’re looking for two experienced Sous Chefs to join our kitchen leadership team. If you’re a passionate chef who loves being on the tools, leading a team and delivering great food in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help drive a strong food offering across the venue.

- Leading and supporting the kitchen team during busy services
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
- Supporting menu development, specials and new food ideas
- Coaching and developing junior chefs
- Assisting with ordering, stock control and food cost management
- Ensuring high standards of food safety, cleanliness and compliance
- Keeping the kitchen organised, efficient and service-ready
- Supporting the Head Chef with the overall operation of the kitchen
- Creating a positive, respectful and high-performing kitchen culture

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced chef who is ready to take the next step in your career and make an impact within a busy kitchen. You'll bring:

- Previous Sous Chef or strong senior chef experience
- Experience leading a team in a busy, high-volume kitchen
- Strong culinary and technical cooking skills
- The ability to stay calm, organised and hands‑on during busy services
- A genuine passion for food and delivering consistently high standards
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A positive attitude and a willingness to lead by example
- A passion for coaching and developing your team
