Due to continued growth and the commencement of a new major fleet contracts, Stevens Fleet Service is looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic – Trucks & Trailers to join our growing Altona North workshop.

We are a busy independent heavy vehicle workshop working on a wide variety of trucks, prime movers and trailers for some of Melbourne’s major transport and fleet operators.

We’re happy to hear from mechanics who specialise in trucks, trailers, or both.

THE ROLE

Depending on your experience, your work may include:

- Servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers
- Heavy vehicle mechanical repairs
- Brake repairs, relines, drums, S-cams and slack adjusters
- Suspension repairs, airbags, bushes and shock absorbers
- Wheel bearings, hubs and seals
- Air system and air leak repairs
- ABS/EBS fault finding
- Electrical and lighting repairs
- Clutch, driveline and general mechanical repairs
- Diagnostic fault finding
- Roadworthy and defect rectification
- General truck and trailer maintenance





There is plenty of variety – you won't be stuck doing the same job every day.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Ideally you will have:

- Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic trade qualification OR strong proven experience working on heavy vehicle trailers
- Experience with trucks, trailers or heavy transport equipmentGood mechanical and fault-finding ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good workmanship and attention to detail
- Current driver's licence
- A reliable attitude and willingness to get the job done properly

Trailer mechanics are strongly encouraged to apply. If your background is mainly trailer servicing, brakes, suspension, wheel ends and air systems, we would like to hear from you.
