About the Role

We have a wonderful opportunity for a RegisteredMidwife to join our team alongside core and Lead Maternity Care midwives,committed to facilitating safe birthing in our rural community.

Shifts are rostered across Monday to Sunday as required and by agreement of 12 and 8 hours.

About the Service

Ashburton Community Birthing Unit is a friendly,bespoke homely birthing unit attached to the Ashburton Rural Hospital campus,located in central Ashburton, Mid Canterbury. It is a well-established 4 bed 2birthing room unit and is embraced and supported by our local community.

About You

Midwives will be well supported by a committed and motivated team who promotethe midwifery model of care, supporting and protecting normal childbirth byworking with women and their whānau in the diverse Ashburton community.

- 2 years post-graduationexperience




- Able to practiseautonomously and comfortably in a rural community setting.
- Have confidence coupled withexcellent communication skills to navigate obstetric and neonatalemergencies, and the ability to cannulate. (Support is provided for thoseworking towards gaining confidence.)
- A passion for primarybirthing and supporting women to initiate and continue breastfeeding
- A commitment to equity andour responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi within maternity services
- The ability to be adaptable,adaptable, solution focused and part of a small cohesive team
- Registered with theMidwifery Council of New Zealand with a current Annual PractisingCertificate (APC)
