Hawkins Resources is seeking four experienced Underground Jumbo Operators for an immediate assignment at an established underground mine in Cobar, NSW.
The positions involve operating Sandvik DD421 and DD311D-40 development jumbos and require operators who can work competently at the development face with minimal supervision.
This is a three-month contract commencing 1 September 2026. With Possibility of On-going work

The role
Responsibilities will include:
- Operating Sandvik DD421 and DD311D-40 development jumbos
- Face drilling to approved development designs and drill patterns
- Drilling and installing ground support
- Scaling and preparing development headings
- Completing accurate pre-starts and inspection reports
- Identifying and reporting equipment defectsUndertaking minor operational maintenance where competent
- Coordinating with nippers, supervisors and the development crew
- Maintaining protected and productive development cycles
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Demonstrated underground hard-rock jumbo operating experience
- Proven experience operating Sandvik DD421 development jumbos
- Experience on Sandvik DD311 or similar single-boom jumbos
- Strong development drilling and ground-support experience
- Ability to interpret development designs, drill patterns and survey mark-ups
- Relevant RII competencies or verified operating experience
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, functional assessment and drug and alcohol screening
- Strong safety performance and reliable work history
- Full Australian working rights
