Join the dedicated perioperative team at Kurri Kurri District Hospital, a valued part of the Lower Hunter community proudly serving Kurri Kurri, Abermain, Weston and Heddon Greta. Our hospital provides a broad range of services, including medical, specialist surgical, rehabilitation, emergency and allied health care, offering the opportunity to build diverse clinical experience while working in a welcoming and collaborative environment. As a Registered Nurse (Perioperative), you'll become part of a close-knit theatre team committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.

This is a Monday to Friday role, providing excellent work-life balance while allowing you to work across a variety of surgical procedures. From day one, you'll be supported through a structured buddy program, guidance from the Nurse Unit Manager and access to ongoing professional development, including study days and education opportunities. Whether you're an experienced perioperative nurse or looking to further develop your skills in Scrub-Scout or Anaesthetics, you'll be supported every step of the way.

What You Will

- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team.
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments and surgical instruments.
- Assist with Scrub-Scout and-or Anaesthetic nursing responsibilities.
- Monitor patients and respond appropriately throughout the perioperative experience.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote patient safety through effective communication, sound clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.





This position reports directly to the Nurse Unit Manager and offers the opportunity to work within a supportive, experienced and highly collaborative perioperative team.

About you

- Have experience or a genuine interest in perioperative nursing, including Scrub-Scout and-or Anaesthetic Nursing.
- Demonstrate excellent clinical judgement and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
- Be adaptable, proactive and willing to contribute across the perioperative service.
- Display professionalism, reliability and a strong commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Foster positive working relationships and contribute to a respectful, supportive workplace culture.

Essential requirements

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

Relevant clinical experience in a medical setting

Demonstrated perioperative nursing experience or a willingness to develop skills in Scrub-Scout and-or Anaesthetic Nursing.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety and continuous quality improvement.

Availability to participate in the department roster, including on-call requirements where applicable.

Additional Information

To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current Recent Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
