Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:
This role is responsible for delivering the Pacific eCommerce financial objectives through ownership of product and merchandising strategy, and the development of accurate, efficient buying and assortment plans across all categories.
Working closely with the Planning & Trading team, you will translate commercial and trading insights into range, assortment and markdown decisions that drive sales, profitability and inventory performance. With a consumer-first and data-led approach, you will ensure the right product is available at the right time, across adidas.com, the adidas App, partner programs and marketplace channels.
In addition to leading the eCommerce Merchandising team, you will personally own the buy for one category, operating as a hands‑on leader and contributing directly to commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the eCommerce buying and merchandising strategy across all categories, ensuring global and market priorities are translated into locally relevant assortments that drive sell-through, conversion and commercial performance
- Lead the development of seasonal roadmaps, range architecture and assortment plans across adidas.com, the App, partner programs and marketplace channels
- Partner closely with Planning & Trading to shape category goals, buying decisions, markdown strategies and inventory plans based on sales forecasts, OTB plans and trading performance
- Personally own the seasonal buy for an allocated category, with accountability for assortment performance, sell-through, inventory productivity and markdown decisions
- Contribute merchandising insights and recommendations to weekly trading meetings and execute agreed actions to optimise performance
- Establish and maintain high standards of commercial analysis, ensuring data informs all buy sign-off and merchandising decisions
- Lead range planning processes, including product and sample reviews, in partnership with Marketing, Consumer Experience and cross-functional stakeholders
- Review seasonal business plans prior to order confirmation to ensure alignment with brand priorities, key stories and commercial objectives
- Contribute merchandising expertise to annual sales and trading plans for the eCommerce channel
- Partner with Consumer Experience to optimise onsite merchandising,
search performance and product discovery through data-led assortment decisions
- Collaborate with Retail, Digital Activation, Membership and CRM teams to ensure consistent execution of promotional activity, campaigns and key commercial moments
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and consumer behaviour to identify opportunities that strengthen the eCommerce assortment and consumer experience
- Lead, coach and develop the eCommerce Merchandising team, creating a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and results
- Build team capability in commercial analysis, reporting and data-driven decision making
- Establish effective planning calendars, governance and decision-making processes that drive consistency and execution excellence across the function
- Own talent development, succession planning and growth opportunities initiatives in partnership with Human Resources

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven leadership and people management capability
- Strong understanding of the Pacific (AU/NZ) eCommerce and digital retail landscape
- Advanced merchandising, buying and commercial planning expertise
- Expert Excel capability with experience building and analysing complex commercial models
- Experience working with enterprise reporting and business intelligence tools such as Power BI
- Familiarity with retail analytics and assortment planning platforms such as Style Arcade is advantageous
- Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in commercial analysis and decision making
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
Requisite Education & Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in Business, Commerce, Retail, Merchandising or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Merchandising, Buying or a related commercial retail function
- Minimum 3 years' people leadership experience
- Experience within eCommerce, Digital Retail or Omni-channel environments preferred
- Proven experience using data and commercial insights to drive sales, profit and inventory outcomes
