About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead and support mechanical design packages for wet plant, minerals processing and materials handling projects, working closely with project managers, designers, drafters and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead mechanical design for wet plant, process plant and materials handling systems, including pumps, piping, tanks, conveyors, transfer stations, bins, hoppers, chutes, feeders, launders, guarding and access arrangements.
- Prepare and review mechanical layouts, general arrangements, equipment specifications, datasheets, calculations, equipment lists, technical reports and design documentation.
- Provide design input for slurry, water, reagent, compressed air, service water and other process or plant services systems.
- Support mechanical design for non-processing infrastructure including workshops, washdown facilities, maintenance facilities and plant services.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with structural, civil, electrical and controls disciplines to deliver safe, practical, maintainable and constructible layouts.
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, HAZOP participation and practical engineering problem solving.




- Lead technical input into procurement packages, tender clarifications, vendor evaluations and vendor document reviews.
- Support fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, RFIs, site queries, punch-list resolution and handover activities.
- Respond to technical queries, RFIs, site issues and design change requests in collaboration with clients, contractors and internal project teams
- Support site inspections, punch-list resolution and handover activities to help ensure safe, compliant and practical project delivery

About You

- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 8-10 years' mechanical engineering design experience, ideally in mining, minerals processing, wet plant or heavy industry
- Strong practical understanding of pumps, piping, valves, tanks, chutes, hoppers, launders, materials handling and process plant equipment
- Ability to lead mechanical design packages and review engineering deliverables for quality, constructability and compliance
- Experience preparing specifications, technical reports, calculations, equipment lists and design documentation
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and mentoring skills
- RPEQ, CPEng, site experience, commissioning support or brownfield upgrade experience would be highly regarded
