The Business Council of Australia is seeking an experienced and driven Digital Media Lead to shape and deliver the organisation's digital content and social media strategy, translating the BCA's advocacy on the economy, investment and innovation, AI, energy, health, tax, workplace relations, skills and more into compelling, accessible content across social and digital channels.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Public Affairs and Advocacy and working closely with policy, economics and membership teams, the Digital Media Lead will help shape how Australians understand the BCA's work advocating for a stronger, fairer and more productive economy, and will ensure the BCA's positions are communicated clearly, credibly and effectively across all channels.
Location: Sydney preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce high-quality digital content, including reels, graphics and photos for social media platforms and member and stakeholder engagement materials.
- Develop and execute digital media campaigns that cut through and connect with diverse audiences, in support of the BCA's advocacy priorities.
- Lead on filming, photography, editing and post-production.
- Translate complex economic and public policy issues into clear, easy to understand and accurate content that drives engagement from the general public.
- Oversee digital and social media activity to enhance the BCA's profile, reach and influence.
- Stay across emerging trends in content creation, video production and digital marketing.
- Work collaboratively across policy, economics, membership and advocacy teams to ensure consistent, accurate and persuasive content that supports advocacy priorities and member interests.
- Monitor and analyse digital and social media coverage and performance to optimise content and campaigns.
- Assist the Executive Director,
Public Affairs and Advocacy, and the Director of Media with other duties as required.
- Work with the Advocacy team on new media opportunities for the CEO.
- Promote and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
- Travel interstate as required, with some irregular hours.
About you
You are a creative and driven digital communications professional with a strong track record of producing content that cuts through in complex environments.
You will bring: Around 3 to 6 years' experience in digital content production, campaigns or social media, ideally within a media, communications, advocacy or political workplace.
- Demonstrated experience in digital campaigning, with a focus on social media and content creation.
- A genuine interest in, or willingness to develop an interest in, Australian public policy and the business community's role in the national economy.
- Strong initiative and the ability to steer ideas from concept to final publication independently.
- Proven ability to communicate complex or technical subject matter in plain, engaging language for a general audience.
- Practical experience capturing high-quality photos and video, including with lighting and audio equipment.
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro, Canva, CapCut, Edits, Photoshop, Lightroom or other content production software.
- A strong visual eye and storytelling instinct, with sharp writing and editing skills across digital and social formats.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Excellent relationship management skills and a proven ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a small, high-performant team under pressure.
