REC Equine Specialists is a globally recognised equine veterinary practice dedicated to delivering the highest possible veterinary care for horses. Based in our state-of-the-art hospital at Horsley Park, our experienced and specialised team provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and laboratory services, complemented by an extensive ambulatory network. Our small finance team plays a critical role in providing essential commercial support, ensuring seamless operations, compliance, and service delivery across the entire group.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic accounts team. In this broad role, you will support the Finance Manager and gain comprehensive exposure across multiple business entities in a medical workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Entry & Financial Records: Manage accurate, high-volume data entry and post monthly journals to maintain the general ledger.
- Transactional Operations: supervise daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, supplier invoices, intercompany transactions, and credit card payments.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform daily bank reconciliations and ensure accurate balancing of corporate credit cards and intercompany accounts.
- Payroll Processing: Complete end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing using MYOB for all staff in a timely,
accurate manner.
- Compliance Management: Assist with the preparation, calculation, and statutory lodgement of GST, PAYG, FBT, and Superannuation obligations.
- Stock & Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory balances, review stock movements, investigate discrepancies, and work closely with the hospital dispensary team.
- Budget & Audit Support: Assist the Finance Manager with annual branch budgeting cycles and provide essential data support for internal and external audit processes.
About You
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping with solid technical accounting knowledge (Australian Accounting Standards).
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in an Assistant Accountant role or similar bookkeeping role.
- Software Fluency: Advanced knowledge of MYOB and Excel, highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Core Strengths: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Attributes: A proactive, positive approach with an adaptable and resilient mindset.
- Industry Advantage: Experience in, or exposure to, equine or veterinary environments is highly regarded.
- Work Rights: Australian work rights are required.
