Southern Suburbs Rugby League Football Club - West End QLD
Create. Capture. Publish. Tell the Magpies story.
Souths Logan Magpies are one of Queensland's proudest and most historic Rugby League Clubs, with a strong connection to community, culture and high-performance sport.
We're looking for a Digital Content & Media Coordinator to play a hands-on role in telling the Magpies story across social media, digital platforms, match days, events and the wider club community.
This is a varied and creative role for someone who loves sport, understands digital content and enjoys being where the action is.
From planning social content and creating digital graphics, to coordinating photographers and videographers, updating the website, producing EDMs and capturing match-day moments - you'll help shape how the Magpies are seen, heard and experienced online.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Marketing & Operations Manager, you'll coordinate and deliver the club's day-to-day digital content and media activity.
You'll work closely with players, coaches, staff, sponsors, members and external creative providers to capture and communicate the people, stories and moments that make Souths Logan Magpies special.
No two weeks will look exactly the same. One day you might be planning the club's social content, the next coordinating a photographer for a game, updating the website, preparing a sponsor presentation or capturing content at a club event.
If you enjoy variety, creativity and getting things done, this could be the role for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Digital Content & Social Media
- Develop creative content ideas that showcase our players, teams, members, sponsors and community.
- Plan, create, schedule and publish content across the club's social media channels.
- Manage the club's day-to-day digital presence, including content updates and audience engagement.
- Create content for match days, events, player features, promotions and club activities.
- Monitor social media performance and provide insights and recommendations.
- Keep across social media and digital trends and identify opportunities to grow engagement and reach.
- Maintain a consistent, professional and authentic look, feel and tone across our digital channels.
Website & Digital Communications
- Maintain and update the club website using Shopify.
- Keep news, fixtures, sponsorship, promotional and other website content current, accurate and engaging.
- Plan, prepare and distribute regular newsletters using Brevo and EDMs to members, supporters, sponsors and stakeholders.
- Assist with communicating club news, events, promotions and important updates.
Content & Media Coordination
- Coordinate photographers, videographers and other creative suppliers across games, events, promotions and campaigns.
- Brief photographers and videographers on content requirements, schedules and deliverables.
- Coordinate content capture before, during and after key games and events.
- Organise and maintain the club's digital content and media assets.
- Identify opportunities for engaging photo, video and editorial content throughout the season.
- Coordinate interviews, player features and other content opportunities with players, coaches and staff.
Presentations, Sponsors & Events
- Develop and update presentations and digital materials for club meetings, sponsors, events and other stakeholders.
- Support sponsorship activations and the delivery of agreed digital content.
- Assist with promotional activities and key club events.
- Support the club's digital and media requirements on game days and at other key events.
ABOUT YOU
You're creative, organised, proactive and digitally savvy, with a genuine interest in sport and storytelling.
You don't need to be a professional photographer, videographer or graphic designer. What matters is that you understand what makes good digital content, can spot a great story and are confident coordinating the people and resources needed to bring it to life.
You'll be someone who:
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Can manage multiple priorities and deadlines without losing attention to detail.
- Is confident communicating with a wide range of people - from players and coaches to sponsors and creative suppliers.
- Has a strong eye for engaging digital content and presentation.
- Is happy to be hands-on and get involved wherever needed.
- Can work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
- Brings energy, initiative and a willingness to make things happen.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in digital content, social media, communications, marketing or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital content best practice.
- Experience creating, coordinating or publishing content across digital channels.
- Experience managing and updating a website; Shopify experience is highly regarded.
- Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Experience coordinating photographers, videographers or other creative suppliers.
- Experience with email marketing / EDM platforms such as Brevo is highly regarded.
- Experience using Canva and Microsoft Office, is highly regarded.
- An understanding of photography, video and basic graphic design principles.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends throughout the season.
- Experience in sport, events, entertainment or community organisations will be highly regarded.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In this role, success isn't just about posting content - it's about making the Magpies digital presence better, more engaging and more connected to our community.
In your first season, you'll be successful when you:
- Build consistency - our social media, website and digital communications are timely, qualified, engaging and reflect the Magpies brand.
- Capture the moments that matter - key games, players, teams, sponsors, community activities and club stories are being captured and turned into quality content.
- Grow engagement - our content is reaching more people, generating stronger engagement and helping build our digital audience.
- Take ownership - you see opportunities, bring ideas forward and make things happen rather than waiting to be asked.
- Build strong relationships - players, coaches, staff, sponsors, suppliers and stakeholders know they can rely on you to get the job done.
- Stay ahead of the game - you keep up with digital trends and continually look for better and more creative ways to tell the Magpies story.
WHY JOIN THE MAGPIES
Be part of the story - work with one of Queensland's most historic rugby league clubs.
- Be where the action is - get involved in match days, events, promotions and community activities.
- Make an impact - play a hands-on role in shaping the club's digital presence and how our stories are told.
- Tell great stories - work with players, teams, members, sponsors and our wider community.
- Build your experience - gain exposure across digital content, media, communications, events and sport.
- Join a passionate team - work alongside people who care deeply about the Magpies and our community.
