WJ Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Supervisor for a permanent position with a well-established industrial business based primarily in Mount Cotton.
This is a genuine hands-on leadership role. You'll still be on the tools while taking responsibility for a small maintenance team and helping coordinate maintenance across multiple operational sites.
The role is primarily based in Mount Cotton, with regular travel to three additional sites across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. A company ute and fuel card are provided.

The role
You'll take a hands-on approach to maintaining fixed and mobile plant while coordinating the day-to-day maintenance requirements across the sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Hands-on mechanical maintenance and repairs
- Supervising and supporting a small team of Maintenance Fitters (2-3)
- Maintenance of crushers, screens and conveyors
- Working across fixed and mobile plant
- Maintenance of equipment including loaders and excavators
- Fault finding and breakdown repairs
- Preventative and scheduled maintenance
- Planning and prioritising maintenance works
- Coordinating shutdown and repair activities
- Liaising with Site Managers and operational teams
- Maintenance administration and reporting
- Assisting with maintenance budgets and forecasting
- Driving plant reliability and reducing downtime
What we’re looking for
We're ideally looking for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with experience across heavy industrial, quarrying, recycling, crushing/screening or similar environments.
You’ll bring:
- Mechanical Fitter trade qualification
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience
- Fixed and/or mobile plant experience
- Crushing and screening experience highly regarded
- Experience with conveyors and heavy plant
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise breakdowns and planned maintenance
- Current driver's licence
- Ability to travel between Brisbane and Gold Coast sites
Ready to step into supervision?
You don't necessarily need to already hold a Supervisor title.
We're equally interested in experienced Senior Fitters or Leading Hands who have strong technical knowledge, communicate well and are ready to take the next step into a leadership position.
You’ll still be hands‑on, so we’re looking for someone who can lead from the front rather than supervise from behind a desk.
