Mechanical Fitter – Industrial Workshop
Permanent Full-Time | Brisbane | Day Shift | $48–$55ph + Super

About the Opportunity We are currently recruiting an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a permanent opportunity with a well-established industrial engineering and repair business based in Brisbane.

This is a hands‑on workshop role involving the disassembly, overhaul, refurbishment and reassembly of large industrial electrical and mechanical equipment.

Previous transformer experience is not essential. We are looking for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with strong mechanical aptitude, solid workshop experience and the ability to learn specialist equipment.

The Role Your responsibilities will include:

- Mechanical disassembly and reassembly of industrial equipment
- Stripping and assessing components
- Inspecting components for wear and damage
- Identifying components requiring repair or replacement
- Preparing equipment and components for reassembly
- Gasket removal, manufacture and replacement
- Working with bearings, seals, fasteners and mechanical assemblies
- Cleaning and preparing components
- Using hand, power and workshop tooling
- Reading mechanical drawings and work instructions
- Measuring and inspecting components
- Assisting with light to heavy fabrication and mechanical assembly
- Using overhead cranes and lifting equipment where qualified
- Completing quality checks throughout the repair process
- Working alongside electrical and mechanical trades
- Maintaining a safe,



clean and organised workshop

About You

To be considered, you will need:

- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience dismantling, repairing and rebuilding industrial equipment
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications
- Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport

Experience with pumps, motors, gearboxes, rotating equipment, heavy machinery, OEM repairs or industrial equipment rebuilds would be highly regarded.

Transformer experience is advantageous but not required, with training available for the right Mechanical Fitter.
