We are currently seeking a casual Sterilisation Technician to join our team and ensure the safe and efficient cleaning, sterilisation, and maintenance of medical instruments.

About the role

The Sterilisation Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sterilisation, packaging, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. They ensure all reprocessed instruments meet infection control and sterilisation standards, supporting safe patient care.

The successful candidate will:

Adhere to all sterilisation standards, including AS5369:2023 and other relevant standards, guidelines and policies.

Certificate III sterilisation services (or working towards).

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and inspect used medical instruments and equipment.

Clean and decontaminate instruments using approved methods (manual, washer-disinfectors).

Follow infection control guidelines to prevent cross-contamination.

Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilisation equipment.

Package and label instruments according to hospital protocols.

Perform biological and chemical testing to ensure sterilisation effectiveness.





Maintain accurate records of sterilisation cycles for compliance.

Inventory & Distribution:

Organise and store sterile supplies in designated areas.

Monitor stock levels and report shortages.

Ensure timely distribution of sterile instruments to operating theatres and wards.

Certificate in Sterilisation Technology or working towards.

Exceptional communication skills.

Exceptional technical skills.

Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Ability to prioritise workload demands.

Minimum 1 year experience working within a Hospital Sterile Supply Department.
