About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and professional Heavy Tow Truck Operator to join our team at MODERN TOWING & SALVAGE in RINGWOOD, VICTORIA. This is a full-time position that is critical to our business operations and customer satisfaction. As a Heavy Tow Truck Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating specialised heavy towing equipment to recover, transport, and salvage vehicles. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operate heavy tow trucks and associated specialised equipment safely and competently in compliance with all road transport regulations and company safety procedures
- Assessing vehicle damage and determining the most appropriate recovery and transportation methods
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections and maintenance checks on tow trucks and recovery equipment to ensure reliability and safety
- Secure vehicles appropriately using chains, straps, and other securing devices to prevent damage during transport
- Navigate to job sites efficiently and safely, managing time effectively to meet customer expectations
- Work collaboratively with dispatch teams, fellow operators, and salvage staff to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain a qualified appearance and conduct, representing MODERN TOWING & SALVAGE positively at all times
What we're looking for:
- Current Multi - Combination (MC) licence endorsed for towing operations
- Proven competency in vehicle recovery
- Strong knowledge of road transport regulations, load management, and vehicle safety standards
- Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on recovery equipment
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgements in high-pressure situations
- Ability to work flexible hours and on-call shifts when required
