Where you'll be working

Westmead Hospital is one of Australia's largest tertiary referral hospitals and a recognised centre of excellence for clinical care, education and research. Working within the Neurophysiology Department, you will join a supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality neurodiagnostic services to both inpatient and outpatient populations.

In this role, you'll perform neurodiagnostic procedures to help diagnose neurological conditions and directly contribute to patient outcomes.

This includes:

- Performing EEG, NCS/EMG, EP, and tremor studies on patients in the hospital
- Troubleshooting equipment and interpreting results
- Creating scientific reports for clinical teams
- Guiding and educating patients through procedures

Be part of a team delivering specialised neurological diagnostic services across a diverse patient cohort

What you'll be doing

As a Scientific Officer within Neurophysiology, you will provide specialised diagnostic services for patients referred to the department while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice, technical proficiency and patient care. You will work independently across a range of neurodiagnostic investigations and contribute to service development, education and research initiatives.

Perform and report on neurophysiology investigations including EEG, sleep-deprived EEG, video telemetry, ambulatory studies, NCS/EMG support, Evoked Potential and tremor studies

Deliver patient-centred care through specialised neurodiagnostic testing for inpatient and outpatient services

Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while recognising and escalating significant abnormalities when required

Contribute to research, quality improvement initiatives, policy development and evidence-based clinical practice

Participate in teaching, education, professional development activities and multidisciplinary collaboration

Tertiary qualification in a science related field

Selection Criteria

Tertiary qualification in a science or nursing related field





Demonstrated knowledge in technical procedures associated with specialised procedures and/or treatments relevant to a speciality and willingness to learn

Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations

Well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and staff

Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in the speciality and resolve general and complex issues within the Department

Commitment to the principles of quality management and maintaining continuous quality improvement to patient care within WSLHD
