The role

Health Workforce Division (HWD)supportsthe growth, retention, and sustainability of a skilled, diverse, and responsive workforce to meet Queensland's evolving healthcare needs.We work collaboratively to enable Hospitals and Health Services provideoptimumlevels of care, with a strong focus on rural, remote, and priority communities.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer / Executive Director Medical Workforce Queensland and a pivotal member of the leadership team, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for our medicines policy, regulation, compliance, strategy and governance functions. You will lead your teams to ensure effective administration of legislative and regulatory frameworks, alignment of statewide activities with government and national priorities, and adherence to professional standards to minimise public health risk and optimise the safe and effective use of medicines.

You will:

- Oversee the Unit's core functions: medicines policy, regulation, compliance, strategy and governance
- Provide expert strategic and operational leadership, stewardship and authoritative advice
- Drive development and implementation of statewide medicines strategy, policy, regulatory and reform initiatives, delivering on system priorities and national directions
- Lead and enable your teams to deliver integrated, high-performing and outcomes-focused services
- Actively lead and contribute to the cultural evolution of the division, building a cohesive work environment that values performance, improvement, collaboration and innovation
- Lead, manage and report on programs of significant scope and strategic importance
- Lead and be accountable for efficient and effective Branch operations, including optimisation of processes, resource allocation and people management

The successful person

We are looking for a highly capable executive who demonstrates:





- expert-level knowledge of medicines regulation and compliance including application and administration of relevant legislation and contemporary regulatory frameworks to support safe and effective medicines management policy and governance
- ability to provide strategic leadership and authoritative advice at executive level, including responding to complex policy and regulatory challenges and translating strategy into operational outcomes across functions
- highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with a strong track record of influencing outcomes and building collaborative partnerships across sectors in complex and evolving environments
- Demonstrated capability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including resource and budget management, and ability to drive performance, reform and innovation across diverse, statewide functions

The successful applicant will ideally hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant health discipline, such as Pharmacy, Health Care Administration.
