With over 30 years in the Australian Transport industry, SSG has a very large customer base. Our business units are diversified with various operational, procurement and parts supply demands. As the National Parts Manager you will be part of the SSG senior management team to understand their own business requirements to ensure the continued success and growth of SSG.
Thermo King-Transport Refrigeration of trailers, trucks, vans, containers and air cargo
Thermo King-Rail HVAC- Air conditioning for Trains, trams and Loco's
Whiting- Roller shutters doors for all transport vehicles
Robinson- Roller shutters for service vehicles
Joloda Hydraroll- Moving floors for vehicles and warehouses and
Anteo-Tail lifts for trailers, trucks, vans and utilities
ROLE OBJECTIVE
Working closely with and reporting to the CEO, you will be accountable for our national parts supply management for all business units including Thermo King, Transitair, Whiting, Joloda and Anteo. You will be responsible to lead your parts, procurement and warehousing teams nationally, ensuring meticulous inventory control whilst also satisfying business KPI’s.
KEY RESONSIBILITIES
The emphasis of this role includes, but is not limited to:
Supervise Parts operations - Nationally
Manage your team Nationally overseeing the procurement, freight, storage, and distribution of parts to all internal and external customers.
Work with our business units to optimise their KPI’s through operational alignment
Working from our head office daily, Altona, Victoria
Interstate travel to all sites Australia wide
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment where quick decision-making is paramount
Management
Knowledge in Business Central and Microsoft field services
Optimising inventory management processes
Manage all international, national and local freight supply
Accountable for cost reduction and GP improvement strategies
Ensure business unit OEM/local parts inventory levels, stock turns and critical parts meet SSG internal and external customer requirements
Lead our Procurement, Parts and warehousing teams
Work in with all Business unit managers daily
Accountable to train and manage staff nationally, including scheduling, performance analysis, reviews, and success measures.
Comply with all obligations in regard to relevant legislation, ISO on Quality, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S;) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and SSG ethical standards.
Ensure the security of SSG information, particularly company, pricing, sales or market information.
Implement procedures and systems to improve inventory management and logistics.
Analyse inventory records to assess stock demand, ensuring optimal stock levels in collaboration with our stakeholders
Uphold inventory accuracy through routine physical inventory and cycle counts
Proactively address any inventory issues, offering timely resolutions to minimise disruptions to customer and/or employee satisfaction
Monitor and report on inventory records, emphasising on any damaged stock levels, credit returns, and stock adjustments
Look at ways to improve parts sales
Data analysis and reporting
Analyse data, inventory evaluation, track key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports on inventory levels and operational efficiency for senior management.
Other duties
Maintain communication with customers and suppliers concerning any difficulties, delays or changes to delivery schedules or requirements
Ability to develop strategy in line with SSG’s warehousing objectives and convert this to operational results.
Provide feedback to CEO on the progress of operational activities and the possibility of any obstacles arising which may prevent the attainment of KPI’s.
Prepare reports for board meetings as requested
Manage administrative requirements for the department.
Participating in regular meetings with Management Team and inter department and national liaisons and communications
Carry out all other ad hoc tasks requested by Management.
Ensure SSG company safety policies and national regulations are maintained for a safe working environment.
Experience and Qualifications
Must have a data driven mindset with exceptional problem solving and negotiation skills
Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business Management or Inventory management
3+ years demonstrated experience parts management and /or supply chain management within the refrigeration, heavy vehicle, automotive or electrical Industry is preferred.
Proven experience with implementing and optimising solutions in parts and /or warehousing environment
Understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (paperless) and Inventory Management principles
Robust leadership skills
Drivers Licence
OHS&E; and ISO requirements:
Be aware of, and comply with, obligations in regard to relevant legislation, ISO on Quality, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S;) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and SSG ethical standards.
Ensure all Department processes, procedures and activities are recorded and that ongoing reviews and corrective actions are performed to ensure the Department is improving continuously.
Follow all OHS&E; policies, safe work procedures and work instructions (whether in writing or oral). Not place yourself or others at risk of injury. Report hazards and injuries to Management immediately.
