About the Role

Auspiced by Primary Care Connect within The Orange Door network, the Practitioner –Family Violence Victim-Survivor (FVVS) will provide triage, screening, assessment, and short‑term responses to incoming referrals for FVVS to support safety of victim‑survivors.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team at Orange Door, the practitioner ensures risk is identified, assessed and managed in line with the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework, and that information sharing is conducted in accordance with legislation.

Position Context

The Orange Door was established as a key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Family Violence. The Orange Door provides a way for people experiencing family violence, and families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children, to access the services they need to be secure and supported.

The Orange Door is also intended to hold Adults Using Family Violence (AUFV) to account by planning interventions to address the risk they pose and challenging their controlling, violent and abusive behaviour. To find out more about The Orange Door, visit https://www.orangedoor.vic.gov.au/.

The Orange Door team includes a mix of staff employed by Family Safe Victoria and staff employed by Community Support Organisations, Aboriginal services and DFFH.





This position reports to the PCC Home Agency Manager via the Team Leader –FVVS. A matrix management model applies within The Orange Door, with an Integrated Team Leader overseeing the position on a day-to-day basis. This Team Leader may be the employee of any Community Support Organisation within The Orange Door. Within The Orange Door, practitioners participate in regular team rotations as directed by the partner organisations. Team rotations ensure balanced caseloads, maintain service coverage, and support the development of practitioner capability across the integrated service model.

It is also expected that this position works within the larger Orange Door Team and Primary Care Connect teams, and network with external organisations.

- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent, or relevant qualifications and a willingness to work towards an equivalent qualification as set out in Mandatory minimum qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners
- Practice experience with family violence, child wellbeing and working with diverse communities.
- Extensive knowledge of family violence frameworks, including:
- The gendered nature and drivers of family violence
- Child safety and wellbeing
- Risk assessment and management in a family violence context
- Relevant legal systems and responses





- Demonstrated experience engaging family violence victim‑survivors
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners and stakeholders and within multi-disciplinary teams.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including accurate documentation aligned with legislative and privacy requirements.
- Strong self‑management skills, including ability to manage competing priorities and a high demand environment, including crisis response.
- Experience using technology to complete daily work tasks.
- Training and understanding of working with family violence victim‑survivors.
