AboutPacific Labour Mobility Support Program

The Pacific AustraliaLabour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a signature initiative for the AustralianGovernment that enables workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) andTimor- Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia. The Pacific LabourMobility Support Program’s (PLMSP) role is to provide the Department of ForeignAffairs and Trade (DFAT) and governments in 9 PICs and Timor-Leste with supportto enable workers to access PALM scheme in inclusive ways that maximise thebenefits for the workers and national economies while minimising risks fromlabour mobility participation. Palladium is contracted to deliver PLMSP onbehalf of DFAT.

ThisOpportunity

The Communications Coordinator – Content willhelp PLMSP tell accurate, accessible and culturally informed stories about thePacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme. This role supports media, stakeholderengagement and communications by producing written, digital, photo and videocontent for audiences across Australia, the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

The role requires someone who is bothcreative and practical. You will need to find strong stories, build trust withstakeholders, capture quality photo and video content, conduct media monitoring,and turn complex information into clear, engaging communications. You will workacross planned campaigns and responsive communications needs, often withshifting priorities, tight timeframes and approval requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Producing end-to-end communications content, including story identification, interviews, writing editorials, photography, videography, video editing, post-production and media monitoring.
- Developing clear and engaging content for different audiences and channels, including feature stories, social media content, video scripts, information resources and marketing materials.
- Capturing high-quality photo, video and interview content in field, event and stakeholder settings, including using professional camera kits in manual mode and adapting to outdoor shoots, changing light, audio needs and field conditions.
- Supporting campaign delivery, media monitoring, procurement, approvals and general communications coordination as part of a busy communications team.
- Maintaining consent records, filing, naming conventions and digital image and video libraries so content is safe,



organised and easy to use.
- Working respectfully with program teams, country teams, workers, employers and other stakeholders to identify authentic and culturally appropriate stories, including through travel within Australia and internationally when required.

About you

We are looking for a thoughtful and practicalcommunications professional who enjoys creative work but also understands thediscipline needed in a corporate, government-funded program workplace. Thisrole will suit someone who takes pride in producing strong content, can workwithin clear processes and approvals, and is motivated by meaningful storiesabout people, communities, international development and Pacific labourmobility.

You do not need to have worked ininternational development before, but you will need genuine interest in thesector, the PALM scheme, public purpose communications or government-stylework. We are looking for someone who wants a varied role where no 2 weeks arethe same, with opportunities to research meaningful stories, travel whenrequired and build a diverse content portfolio as part of a supportivecommunications team.

In your application and portfolio, we willbe looking for evidence that you:

- Bring around 4 years’ experience in multimedia content production, communications, journalism, videography, photography, video editing, media monitoring or a related field, supported by a relevant degree or an equivalent mix of education and experience
- Have a strong portfolio that demonstrates clear storytelling across written, photo, video, social or digital content. Are confident capturing quality content in real-world settings, including operating professional camera equipment in manual mode and adapting to outdoor showers, changing light, audio needs and field conditions.
- Write and edit clearly for different audiences, channels and purposes, with strong judgement on tone, accuracy and cultural context.
- Can manage competing priorities, fast turnarounds and multiple projects while keeping files, consent records, naming conventions and approval steps organised.
- Are comfortable balancing creativity with brand, consent, safeguarding, client and approval requirements, and can work respectfully with diverse stakeholders and communities.




- Are available and willing to travel within Australia and internationally when required, including to support field content capture and time-sensitive campaign needs.
