Please note: This position is NOT under the VPS Enterprise Agreement. The successful candidate will be appointed under the Electoral Act 2002 for state elections and under the Local Government (Electoral) Regulations 2020 for council elections. The pay and conditions for this role, are set out under the VEC's Election Staff Remuneration and Allowance Framework.

Interviews will be conducted the week commencing 7 September, with training for successful candidates undertaken in mid to late September 2026.

What you will be doing

You will help deliver election operations across one or more electoral districts as part of a hub team. Hubs are central field-based sites that coordinate staffing, logistics, resources and operational support during an election.





You do not need previous election experience. We will train you on electoral processes and systems. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, can think on their feet and is comfortable balancing community engagement with operational responsibilities.

Day to day, you will:

- Deliver Victorian Community Information Sessions to community groups across your region
- Help promote electoral participation and enrolment through community outreach activities
- Lead scrutineer management across the districts serviced by your hub
- Build positive relationships with community organisations, candidates and election stakeholders
- Manage issues and respond to enquiries professionally, impartially and in line with established procedures
- Support election managers and hub teams to deliver key election activities
- Assist with staffing, logistics, resourcing and site coordination activities as required
- Provide support to the Hub Manager and step into different areas of the operation when needed

No two days are the same. Alongside your core responsibilities, you will be a flexible member of the hub team, stepping in where support is needed most and helping ensure election activities run smoothly across the districts your hub supports.

What you will bring to the role

- Experience coordinating projects, operations or events and delivering results to tight deadlines
- Confidence presenting information to groups and engaging with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience supervising, leading or supporting staff in a fast-paced environment




- Sound judgement and the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, presentation technology and current systems

Additional requirements:

A current driver's licence and access to a vehicle, as the role involves travel across your assigned region.

This role involves travel to community venues, moving election materials and equipment, and working extended or irregular hours during peak election periods.
