The Role
Play a key leadership role in shaping how TasWater engages with the community. You'll lead high-impact communications and engagement initiatives across our major capital works program, ensuring our customers, stakeholders and communities are informed, involved and supported throughout project delivery. By fostering trust, building strong relationships and providing strategic advice, you'll help create positive experiences while strengthening TasWater's reputation. This is an opportunity to influence how essential infrastructure is delivered, making a meaningful and lasting impact for Tasmanians and the communities we serve for generations to come.
- Manage, report and review key metrics, market research, trends and issues to support the success of the community and stakeholder strategy.
- Proactively liaise with key TasWater stakeholders, to understand and identify their needs and expectations and work with them to achieve beneficial strategic outcomes.
- Provide expert advice and leadership to project teams, developing engagement strategies that build trust, manage stakeholder relationships, and support successful project outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local councils, community groups, government agencies and project partners, to enhance TasWater's reputation and deliver positive community outcomes.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Community Engagement team, fostering a collaborative, customer-focused culture while driving continuous improvement and best practice engagement.

What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced communications and engagement leader who is passionate about building trusted relationships and delivering meaningful community outcomes. You'll bring proven experience leading high-performing teams, developing strategic engagement initiatives, and partnering with a diverse range of stakeholders to successfully deliver complex infrastructure or capital projects.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as public relations, communications or community engagement, or demonstrated equivalent competence
- Demonstrated experience in external communications, community engagement and/or stakeholder engagement for capital projects and programs in a large multi-discipline organisation
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop and empower a high-performing team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with experience building trust and influencing diverse internal and external audiences.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to navigate complex issues, provide expert advice,
and deliver engagement outcomes that support successful project delivery and positive community experiences.
