Chief Financial Officer – Pickering Automotive Group

Gold Coast, QLD | Full-Time Executive Role
Package: $180,000–$200,000 + Commission + Company Vehicle

Pickering Automotive Group operating across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its senior leadership team.

This is not a boardroom or back-office CFO role. We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded CFO who wants to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the dealerships and actively improve the performance of the business.

Automotive dealership accounting experience is essential. Previous experience with Auto-IT would be highly regarded.

The Role

Working closely with the Dealer Principal, General Managers and department leaders, the CFO will be responsible for the financial performance, cash flow, controls and commercial direction of the group.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Full oversight of group financial reporting, management accounts and balance sheets

- Cash flow, working capital and treasury management

- Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning

- Floorplan management and vehicle stock control

- Monitoring ageing stock, inventory levels and funding costs

- Reviewing profitability across New Cars, Used Cars, Service, Parts, F&I; and Administration

- Identifying opportunities to increase gross profit and reduce expenses

- Challenging staffing levels, overheads, subscriptions, suppliers and unnecessary costs

- Supporting General Managers with practical, commercial decision-making

- Monitoring dealership KPIs and identifying underperformance early

- Improving internal controls, compliance and fraud prevention

- Managing banking, lenders, external accountants and key financial relationships

- Overseeing OEM/manufacturer financial reporting, incentives and funding requirements

- Reviewing capital expenditure, acquisitions, expansions and major investments based on ROI

- Leading and developing the finance and administration teams

- Providing clear financial information to managers in a practical, easy-to-understand format

AI, Automation & Business Efficiency

We are looking for a CFO who embraces AI,



automation and technology as practical business tools.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

- Use AI to improve reporting, forecasting and financial analysis

- Identify repetitive administrative and finance tasks that can be automated

- Use technology and AI to reduce the overall cost of doing business

- Improve productivity without simply adding additional staff

- Review existing systems and processes and identify more efficient alternatives

- Use data and AI to identify cost savings, risks, trends and profit opportunities

- Help introduce smarter processes across finance and the wider dealership group

The objective is not simply to introduce new technology — it is to use technology to create a leaner, more efficient and more profitable business.

Dealership Systems & Technology

The successful candidate must be comfortable working with and adapting to Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and other dealership technology as required.

Experience with Auto-IT would be a strong advantage, with exposure to systems such as UNITS, Spectrum and Engage also highly regarded.

The CFO must be comfortable extracting and analysing dealership data and using systems, AI and technology to improve reporting, accountability, productivity and profitability.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

- Significant finance or accounting experience within a car dealership or automotive dealer group

- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements and departmental profitability

- Experience across New Cars, Used Cars, Service, Parts and F&I; operations

- Solid knowledge of floorplan, stock management and dealership working capital

- Excellent cash-flow management skills

- Strong cost-control and commercial discipline

- Ability to turn financial information into practical actions





- Strong leadership and communication skills

- Confidence working directly with Dealer Principals, General Managers and Department Managers

- Experience challenging underperformance and holding managers accountable

- Strong understanding of AI, automation and modern financial technology

- Auto-IT experience highly regarded

- Strong DMS and dealership systems capability

- Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technology

- Ability to identify where processes, costs or staffing structures can be improved

- A practical, hands-on approach rather than purely corporate finance experience

Location Requirement

Applicants must be based on the Gold Coast or willing to permanently relocate to the Gold Coast.

This is an on-site position. The successful candidate will be expected to work within the dealerships, regularly engage with department managers and be actively involved in the day-to-day business.

Remuneration & Benefits

A competitive executive package is available for the right candidate:

$180,000–$200,000 base salary + Commission + Company Vehicle

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced dealership Financial Controller, senior dealership accountant or automotive finance executive to step into a broader CFO position within an established multi-franchise automotive group.

We are looking for someone who will do more than report the numbers.

We want a CFO who will actively improve them.
