ABOUT OUR CLIENT
EDON Place Domestic and Family Violence Service (EDON Place) is a not-for-profit organisation. The service is the lead provider, access point and offers a holistic approach to domestic and family violence in Bundaberg and the North Burnett region. EDON Place provides programs funded by the Queensland Government – Women’s Safety and Violence Prevention – Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety and is a child safe organisation.
The service aims to assist women and their children to maintain a life free of violence while addressing emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence. The service offers a holistic approach to people affected by domestic and family violence with the necessary support and resources to alleviate poverty, distress, homelessness, and ill health to break the cycle of domestic and family violence. The position operates within the philosophy of the service and in accordance with the organisation’s Service Agreement’s with the Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.
ABOUT THE ROLE
EDON Place currently has an executive opportunity for a recent CEO to join the team, strengthening governance and championing a culture of safety, accountability and empowerment.
The CEO manages the day-to-day operations of the Service and maintains the delivery of an effective and equitable service to families experiencing or have experienced domestic and family violence. The CEO ensures that the service operates in accordance with the philosophies and objectives determined by EDON Place.
While at the same time, adhering strictly to guidelines set under the organisation's Service Agreement/s with the Queensland Government. The CEO works closely with the Board of Directors whose focus is on the future direction and growth of the organisation as documented within the Strategic and Operational Plans.
The CEO is the driving force of the organisation actively investigating and implementing future directions for the organisation, this may include possible auspices, mergers, or partnerships with other related specific agencies.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
· Strategic Management:
Work closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill governance functions and manage key management and operational issues, building strategic partnerships and promoting the service as a lead agency in the Bundaberg and North Burnett district.
· Staff Management:
Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operational and service management of all staff including supervision and management of workloads, performance management and other related human resource management functions / processes.
· Policy Development:
Instrumental in the development, implementation and ongoing review of policies, procedures and processes that align with the specific needs of families affected by domestic and family violence.
· Service Operations:
Oversee and manage the corporate services area of the organisation including but not limited to compliance, finance preparation and analysis of budgets, expenditure and revenue reports.
· Resource Management
Provide comprehensive administrative and advisory support to the Board of Directors by way of coordination of agendas and minutes, meeting papers and contribute to the development and improvement of the services infrastructure, initiatives and projects. Conduct educational service delivery presentations to other agencies and organisations.
· Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, community partners, funding bodies and sector networks and represents EDON Place in public forums, including media, to advocate for the organisation and its mission.
POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 5 years broad knowledge and experience in a management position within the DFV sector. A tertiary qualification in management/social sciences/human services and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
· Strong understanding of domestic and family violence frameworks, trauma-informed practice and risk management principles.
· Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organisational leadership and change management.
· Excellent stakeholder engagement, advocacy and partnership building skills.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
• Queensland Driver’s License / C Class
• Working with Children (Blue Card)
• Australian National Police Check (AFP)
• Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be required
