Northern Health is seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Endocrinology Fellow/Trainee to join the Endocrinology department.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role

The Endocrinology Fellow will work alongside Northern Health endocrinologists and three accredited endocrinology registrars. The fellow will gain supervised experience across a range of specialised endocrinology outpatient services, attending an average of two endocrine and diabetes clinics per week. Depending on consultant leave and availability, these may include general diabetes clinics, general endocrinology clinics,



the metabolic bone clinic, obstetric endocrinology, and specialised type 1 diabetes clinics.

The fellow will also gain broad endocrine experience through participation in the after-hours and weekend on-call roster.

The Fellow is strongly encouraged to participate in research and quality improvement projects, with opportunities spanning multiple projects, including higher degree research, to support the development of both academic and clinical expertise in diabetes and endocrinology.

This role is responsible for

- Attending an average of two outpatient clinics per week
- Participating in the endocrinology after-hours on call and weekend roster shared with the other advanced trainees (1 in 4 roster)
- Assisting with preparation and presentation cases/topics at relevant meetings when requested.
- Providing clinical support for other junior doctors where this may be required due to workload or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Participate in endocrinology unit meetings.

To be successful in this role you will have: Essential Qualifications

- A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Must be holder of a relevant employment visa if not an Australian resident.
- Applicants must be enrolled in the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an Advanced Trainee

Desirable




- Experience in endocrinology
- Trainee of relevant Medical College
- FRACP (or equivalent) to be passed/completed

Experience

- Has the appropriate level of relevant clinical experience for the role
- Must have a proven track record of commitment to continued improvement, research development and team work
