A-Class Electrician – Commercial Maintenance
About Us
Melbourne Electrical Maintenance (MEM) is a trusted name in the commercial electrical industry, responsible for maintaining some of Australia’s largest universities, leading tertiary institutions and most recognisable organisations. Across a portfolio of more than 500 buildings, no two days are the same.
One day you could be fault-finding within a university campus, and the next installing electrical infrastructure supporting multi-million-dollar research equipment. Alongside our core maintenance services, MEM delivers commercial electrical projects valued up to $5 million, giving our electricians exposure to a diverse range of challenging and high-impact work.
Our people and culture are a major part of what makes MEM different. In recognition of our workplace culture, employee support and commitment to excellence, MEM was proud to be named a Finalist in the 2025 Australian Financial Review Best Places to Work Awards and is currently a Finalist in the 2026 NECA Victoria Excellence Awards.
If you're looking for variety, genuine professional development and the opportunity to work with a great team on interesting sites, MEM could be the right fit for you.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced A-Class Electrician to join our team of highly skilled field technicians. This isn't a role where you'll be doing the same thing every day. You'll work across complex commercial and tertiary environments, carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, compliance works, installations and project works.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, can think through a problem rather than simply replace a part,
communicates well with clients and teammates, and wants to continue developing their technical skills.
What You'll Need
- Victorian A-Class Electrical Licence
- White Card
- Working With Children Check
- EWP & Scissor Lift Ticket
- Red Card
- Victorian Driver's Licence
- Minimum 5 years' commercial electrical experience
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Solid communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with clients and team members
- A genuine commitment to quality and safe work practices
Desirable, but not essential
- SimPRO experience
- DALI / KNX or other lighting control experience
- HVAC electrical and controls knowledge
- Experience working within universities, hospitals or other complex commercial environments
What We Offer
We want MEM to be somewhere great electricians can build a long-term career.
- Competitive salary
- Fully maintained take-home company vehicle
- Choice of a unique 4-day work week or traditional monthly RDO
- Paid parental leave
- Weekly phone allowance
- Overtime and weekend work available if you want it
- Full uniform provided
- Monthly team breakfast and lunch – on us
- Exposure to complex fault-finding, automation, lighting control and major commercial projects
- Ongoing opportunities to develop your technical skills
- Supportive team environment with a strong focus on safety, quality and development
Ready for Something Different?
If you're an experienced electrician who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in doing things properly and wants a role with genuine variety and opportunity, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and take the next step in your career with Melbourne Electrical Maintenance.
