ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team. Working closely with the Head of Finance, Financial Accountant and Finance Business Partner, you'll play a key role in managing a broad range of day-to-day financial operations while driving process improvements and AI initiatives that reduce manual work, improve accuracy and free up capacity for higher-value work.
RESPONSIBILTIES
Accounts Payable
- Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable function via newly implemented automated processing tool
- Review and improve AP workflows to maximise automation and refine GL account coding accuracy, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Maintain supplier master data, resolve supplier queries and maintain positive supplier relationships
Accounts Receivable
- Manage customer deposit allocation processes and monitor outstanding receivables
- Sales order and payment query management and resolution
Banking
- Complete daily bank reconciliations
- Preparation of cashflow reporting to support business decision-making
- Reconciliation of merchant facilities and payment gateways
- Monitor cash receipts and investigate discrepancies
Month End
- Perform month-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist the Financial Accountant with month-end close activities
- Support audit preparation and financial reporting requirements
Systems Automation & AI
- Work closely with Technology partners to implement AI solutions across finance
- Identify opportunities to automate transactional processes, reconciliations, GL coding and exception reporting
- Assist with testing, implementation and continuous improvement of finance systems
Payroll
- Support fortnightly third-party payroll processing, including data preparation, checks, and query resolution
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
- Previous experience in an Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or Accounts Officer position
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Confidence working with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
- A proactive mindset with an interest in systems, automation and AI
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced retail environment
Experience with NetSuite, Traild, Zone&Co;, Employment Hero and AI-enabled finance platforms will be highly regarded but is not essential.
