Accounts Payable Officer – Project / Systems Support The Organisation
Our client is a large, well-established corporate organisation with a significant presence across Australia. Based in Melbourne’s CBD, the organisation offers an excellent working setting, modern offices and a supportive, collaborative finance team.
With a major period of change underway, they are looking to add an experienced Accounts Payable professional to the team on an initial contract basis.
The role is expected to run for approximately 3–6 months and would suit either someone with unrestricted working rights or a Working Holiday Visa holder who can commit to seeing the assignment through.
The Role
This is a slightly different Accounts Payable opportunity and will involve considerably more checking, validation and analysis than traditional high-volume invoice processing.
Working as part of a larger finance team, you will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of significant volumes of Accounts Payable information as the organisation moves through an important period of systems and process change.
Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Reviewing and validating high volumes of Accounts Payable data
- Checking information for accuracy and completeness
- Identifying discrepancies, exceptions or unusual transactions
- Investigating issues and working with the wider finance team to resolve them
- Reconciling information between finance systems and reports
- Supporting the validation of migrated financial data
- Assisting with system and process testing where required
- Supporting payment runs and associated checks
- Providing some general Accounts Payable processing support when required
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring appropriate controls are followed
With up to approximately 4,000 payments per month flowing through the function,
attention to detail and the ability to confidently work with large volumes of financial information will be particularly important. Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity to join a high-quality organisation and gain exposure to a large finance function during an interesting period of transformation.
You can expect
- Melbourne CBD location with excellent public transport access
- Hybrid working, including two days working from home
- An opportunity to join a genuinely friendly and supportive finance team
- Exposure to a large corporate finance environment
- Valuable experience working through systems and process change
- A contract expected to run for approximately 3–6 months
- Potential for a quick start in early September
- A role suitable for both permanent residents/citizens and suitable Working Holiday Visa holders
Candidate Profile We are looking for someone with previous Accounts Payable experience who enjoys working with numbers, investigating discrepancies and making sure information is accurate.
Ideally, you will have:
- At least 12 months' Accounts Payable experience
- Experience working within a medium to large organisation
- Previous experience using an ERP or large finance system
- Confidence working with high volumes of financial information
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot inconsistencies
- Good reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable Excel skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, friendly and team-oriented approach
- The ability to commence in early September
- The availability and commitment to complete a 3–6 month assignment
Most importantly, we are looking for someone dependable who will take ownership of their work, enjoy being part of a collaborative team and be comfortable committing to the project through to completion.
