Part-Time Consultancy | BioGenesis | Australia BioGenesis is seeking an experienced Industrial Microalgae Cultivation Consultant to provide specialist technical expertise and help optimise our microalgae production operations. This is a part-time consultancy engagement suited to a senior professional who has spent significant time working directly with commercial or industrial-scale microalgae cultivation and understands how to improve productivity, consistency, yield and operational efficiency. About the Opportunity

BioGenesis is looking for a specialist who can take a holistic view of our cultivation process and identify opportunities to improve production performance.

The consultant will review the cultivation process from inoculation through to harvesting, assess current practices and operating data, identify constraints and improvement opportunities, and provide practical recommendations that can be implemented by the production team.

This is an opportunity to have a direct technical impact on the optimisation and scalability of a growing microalgae operation. Key Areas of Focus The successful consultant will be expected to assess and provide recommendations across areas including:

Pond productivity – assess productivity, growth performance and operational efficiency and identify opportunities to improve output.

Inoculation strategy – review inoculum quality, timing, density and transfer practices to improve culture establishment and consistency.

Harvesting timing – assess optimal harvesting points and strategies to maximise productivity, quality and overall yield.

Nutrient optimisation – review nutrient inputs, dosing strategies and nutrient utilisation to improve growth and production efficiency.

Contamination prevention – identify operational risks and recommend practical strategies to minimise contamination and culture losses.





Seasonal operation – assess how seasonal and environmental conditions affect production and recommend strategies for maintaining consistent productivity.

Productivity modelling – develop or review models to understand productivity, production cycles, yields and key operational variables.

SOP optimisation – review existing Standard Operating Procedures and recommend improvements to make processes more consistent, measurable and scalable.

Scale-up – provide technical guidance on increasing production capacity while maintaining culture stability, productivity and product quality. Key Responsibilities

Conduct a comprehensive review of the current microalgae cultivation process.

Review available production data, operating practices and existing SOPs.

Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and sources of variability.

Benchmark current practices against relevant industrial microalgae cultivation principles and experience.

Develop practical recommendations to improve productivity, yield and operational consistency.

Establish key production metrics and performance indicators.

Provide guidance on cultivation parameters and operating strategies.

Support optimisation trials and evaluate results.

Recommend improvements to SOPs, monitoring and production controls.

Provide technical advice regarding future scale-up and production expansion.

Work collaboratively with the BioGenesis production and leadership teams.

Provide regular technical findings,



recommendations and progress updates.

About

You

We are looking for someone with substantial hands-on experience in industrial or commercial microalgae cultivation.

You will ideally have

Extensive experience operating or optimising commercial/industrial-scale microalgae production systems.

A strong understanding of microalgae cultivation biology and production processes.

Demonstrated experience improving pond productivity, yield or production efficiency.

Practical experience with inoculation, harvesting and culture management.

Solid knowledge of nutrient management and contamination control.

Experience managing cultivation across different environmental or seasonal conditions.

Experience developing or using productivity and production models.

A strong understanding of SOP development and process optimisation.

Experience supporting scale-up from pilot or smaller-scale systems to commercial production.

The ability to analyse production data and translate findings into practical operational recommendations.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with technical and business stakeholders.
