ABOUT THE ROLE
Eilbeck Cranes is looking for a motivated Fitter / Machinist Apprentice to join our growing heavy machining team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in machining and mechanical fitting while learning in a brand-new machine shop equipped with modern CNC and conventional machinery.
You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced tradespeople and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of machining, fitting and manufacturing activities.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain exposure to:
- CNC turning and milling
- Large CNC floor boring and horizontal boring machines
- Multi-axis and multitasking CNC machining
- Conventional/manual lathes and milling machines
- Mechanical fitting and assembly
- Mastercam CAD/CAM programming
- CNC machine programming and set-ups
- Tooling selection and machining strategies
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Precision measurement and inspection
- Machining large and complex heavy engineering components
- Job planning and preparation
- Workshop and manufacturing processes from start to finish
You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced machinists on both brand-new CNC machines and established heavy machining equipment, giving you exposure to a broad range of machining technologies.
ABOUT YOU
- Has a genuine interest in machining, mechanical fitting and engineering.
- Is keen to learn CNC machining and up-to-date manufacturing technology.
- Has good mechanical aptitude and enjoys hands-on work.
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
- Takes pride in their work and pays attention to detail.
- Has a positive attitude towards safety and teamwork.
- Is willing to learn from experienced tradespeople and progressively take on more responsibility
- Previous workshop or engineering experience is an advantage but not essential. The right attitude, willingness to learn and genuine interest in the trade are more key.
