BOILERMAKERS WANTED

Can you lay down a decent weld, fit pipe without calling a committee meeting and operate an EWP without redesigning the roof?

Does your alarm clock work on Mondays?

Excellent. We should talk.

Briones Group is looking for actual trade-qualified Boilermakers—not “I own a grinder and watched three YouTube videos” Boilermakers—to join our Loganholme crew for an immediate start.

You’ll start on $50 per hour casual plus OT, Obviously, with regular overtime, paid travel for eligible site work as well as Site Uplift and a genuine opportunity to become permanent.

We’re not chasing warm bodies to fill a two-week gap. We’re growing our Brisbane operation and building a long-term crew. If you’re positive at what you do, work hard and look after your mates, we want you to become part of Briones—not Boilermaker Number Seven on a spreadsheet.

What’s in it for you?

- $50 per hour casual ++++
- Regular overtime—your bank account will love it, if you want it
- Overtime paid at applicable rates
- Paid travel where applicable, depending on the project location
- Local Brisbane work—home in your own bed every night
- No FIFO flights, shower thongs, camp mattresses or “chef’s surprise” (psst, we offer this too if away work is your thing)
- Varied workshop and site work so you don’t lose the will to live making the same bracket every day
- Genuine opportunity to move into a permanent position
- Regular BBQs, team catch-ups and the occasional cold beer after the tools are locked away
- A solid crew that works hard, gives each other plenty of grief and backs each other when it matters

What will you actually be doing? This is a proper all-round Boilermaker role.

One day you could be completing heavy fabrication in the workshop; the next you might be installing steelwork, modifying equipment or carrying out repairs on site.

It isn’t all pipe,

but you do need to know how to fit and weld it. If your normal fit-up method is “hit it harder until the bolt holes surrender,” we may need to have a chat.

The work includes

- General boilermaking and heavy fabrication
- Structural steel fabrication and installation
- Site maintenance, repairs and modifications
- Fabricating components from drawings
- Pipe fabrication, fitting and welding
- Cutting, grinding, welding and assembling steelwork
- Operating EWPs without removing anything that was meant to stay attached
- Measuring twice, cutting once and swearing only when absolutely necessary
- Producing safe, accurate and high-quality work

Minimum entry requirements:
- Australian-recognised Boilermaker trade qualification
- Current High Risk Work Licence – EWP (WP)—your mate having one doesn’t count
- Strong general fabrication and welding experience
- Experience fitting and welding pipework
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings before starting the job
- Construction White Card
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport—the ute can be ugly; it just needs to start
- Ability to work independently without forgetting you’re part of a crew
- An alarm clock that works Monday through Friday
- A good attitude and pride in your workmanship
- An understanding that the grinder is a tool, not a solution to every problem

Working at Heights, Confined Space and forklift tickets will earn you extra brownie points. Who will fit in at Briones?

We like people who have a crack, take pride in their work,

help the person beside them and can enjoy a bit of banter without lodging an incident report because someone criticised their lunch.

We don’t need

- Self-appointed smoko-room supervisors
- People who are always “five minutes away”
- Workplace politicians
- Experts on every job except the one they’re currently doing
- Anyone whose favourite phrase is “that’s not my job”
- Welds that look like a pigeon walked through wet concrete

Why Briones? We’re a growing family-owned business, and we’re building a crew that will grow with us.

You won’t disappear into a payroll system here. People will know your name, what you’re good at and probably how you like your steak cooked at the next BBQ.

Everyone—from the workshop and site crews through to the office—is working towards the same goal. We take safety, quality and looking after the client seriously. We just don’t believe everyone needs to walk around looking miserable while doing it.

We work hard, have a laugh, back our mates and enjoy a cold beer together once the work is finished and the tools are away.

If you turn up, pull your weight, produce quality work and support the crew, Briones will back you in return. You’ll be part of our long-term plan—not someone we forget about as soon as the current job finishes.

If you want good money, regular overtime, local work and a crew that will know your actual name, apply through SEEK or email your resume to Justin at [email protected].

Your resume doesn’t need coloured graphs, a personal mission statement or three paragraphs about “leveraging team synergies.” We don’t know what that means either.

Just tell us where you’ve worked, what tickets you hold, what you can do and how to contact you.

We’re hiring Boilermakers, not LinkedIn influencers.
