ASC International - Aquaculture Stewardship Council is an independent, non-profit organisation, originally founded by WWF in 2010. We are committed to continuous improvement of global seafood farming practices towards environmental and social sustainability.

Why this role?

Australia is a key growth market for ASC worldwide. As ASC’s Business (Market) Development Manager, you will be well positioned to drive ASC’s market growth across the region.

As ASC’s Market Development Manager/ Commercial Outreach Manager for Australia, you will be responsible for expanding the uptake of ASC’s certification and labelling programme.

This role is focused on commercial outreach, stakeholder engagement and market growth. You will work closely with retailers, brands, processors, industry associations and supply chain partners to expand awareness, strengthen partnerships and increase uptake of ASC certification and labelled products throughout the region.

The manager will focus heavily on expanding the uptake of ASC’s seafood certification and labelling programme, through a bespoke regional strategy. You will network, influence and build strong commercial relationships across the seafood and aquaculture sector. We are looking for someone who thrives on building networks, creating opportunities and turning strategic partnerships into measurable commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities

- Lead the implementation of ASC's market development strategy across Australia.
- Build and strengthen lasting relationships with retailers, brands, processors, foodservice operators and other key industry stakeholders.
- Increase awareness, adoption and visibility of ASC-certified products within target markets.
- Identify commercial opportunities and develop exciting initiatives that support market growth boost brand engagement.
- Act as a trusted advisor to external partners, promoting ASC's mission by showing value and advantages of ASC certification and labelled products.




- Influence decision-makers and core stakeholders to support sustainable seafood sourcing and certification adoption.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Brand & Communications experts to lead creative and engaging regional promotional campaigns, events and activities.
- Represent ASC at industry events, conferences, trade fairs and stakeholder meetings.
- Gather market intelligence and identify emerging trends, opportunities and challenges across Australia.
- Translate complex sustainability and certification information into clear and meaningful messages for commercial partners, stakeholders, clients and customers.

Success looks like:

- Increased regional awareness, uptake, adoption of ASC certification / labelled product.
- Building strong, credible and long-lasting commercial partnerships.
- Driving certified ASC product into new markets with confidence.
- Actively expanding ASC's presence within retail and brand landscapes.
- Identify current growth opportunities that sustain long-term market & country development.
- Effectively communicate the value of ASC's programmes to engage a broad range of partners, clients and experts.

Profile: We’re looking for someone who has:

- Proven experience in New Market Growth, Business/Market Development, Country Development / Account Management or Commercial / Sales roles.
- Strong stakeholder management, relationship building and client engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, challenge, negotiate and drive commercial outcomes.
- Experience engaging with expert decision-makers and people partners at all levels (internally and externally).
- Ability to work independently (remotely)



and manage multiple priorities across a regional remit.
- An excellent communicator with a people-first approach
- Engaging and interactive sales / commercial growth skills (ability to confidently pitch / present).

Bonus if you have:

- Experience within seafood, food production, FMCG, retail, sustainability or certification sectors.
- Existing network across the Australian retail, food or seafood industries.
- Knowledge of certification programmes, sustainability initiatives, ESG or responsible sourcing.
- Marketing, brand partnership or trade marketing experience
